Terrain: Very challenging, with a steep ascent in the first 5 km (3.1 miles) and a variety of terrain, including rocky paths, scree slopes, and meadows.
Description:
The Eğin Mountain Trail Hike is a challenging but rewarding event that takes participants to the summit of Eğin Dağı, the mountain that overlooks the historic town of Eğin (now Kemaliye). The route follows ancient trails that were once used by the people of Eğin to travel to and from their pastures. The hike offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
Please note:
An average hiker is expected to complete the trail in 5-6 hours. Elevation (with one-third of the route above 1200m altitude, and one-fifth between 1700-2000m altitude), wind, insufficient fluid intake, lack of familiarity with rough terrain, and difficulty in following the trail can extend the duration by 10-80%.
